Setting up medication reminders with Reminders
-
Create a list for your pet
Open Reminders and create a new list, e.g. "Burek - Meds".
-
Add a reminder for each medication or treatment
Add one reminder per item: a dewormer, a flea and tick treatment, a vaccination booster, with a note on the dose in the title or details.
-
Set it to repeat on the right schedule
Open the reminder's details and set Repeat to match the treatment's actual interval, monthly for a flea treatment, for example.
-
Check it off when done
Mark it complete after giving the treatment. It reappears on the next due date automatically.
Where this falls short
It works for one pet and a handful of reminders. With several animals, each on their own schedule, the lists get hard to scan at a glance, and Reminders has no idea if a dose was actually given late, no escalation if you miss it, and no way to track how much of a treatment you have left. There's also no single document to hand a vet or a boarding kennel showing what's current and what's due.
What a dedicated app adds
Kompano groups tasks by pet in one daily view, tracks when a dose was actually confirmed rather than just scheduled, escalates a notification if a treatment is missed, and estimates how many days a supply (a box of pipettes, a vial of insulin) will last from how much you have on hand. It can also generate a PDF health summary to share with a vet or a pet sitter. Kompano is available now on the App Store.
Frequently asked questions
Can Reminders track more than one pet cleanly?
You can use separate lists per pet, but there's no shared daily view across all of them, and no tracking of who actually gave a dose if more than one person cares for the animal.
Does Reminders warn me before I run out of a treatment?
No, it only reminds you to apply or give a dose on schedule, it has no concept of remaining stock.
Is Kompano available now?
Yes, it's available now on the App Store, free to start.
